16th Bird Fair at Man Sagar Lake Jaipur

Jal Mahal

The Man Sagar is teaming with birds these days and it’s time again for the annual bird fair in Pink City. Compared to previous years, the lake has significantly improved. The stench is now a thing of the past.

Meanwhile, the two-day 16th Birding Fair devoted to Urban Lakes’ Conservation in Rajasthan will start on February 1 2, 2013 at the Man Sagar dam led by Rani Vidya Devi of Jaipur’s erstwhile royal family.

About 2,500 migratory birds can be seen against 10,000 birds reported a few years back. Diving shovellers, pintails, coots, resident ducks like spot-bill duck and common moorhen, and four species of egrets too can be seen though barely 400 in number.  Besides, the Lake forms part of Jaipur’s northern frontal facade, which is marked by hills, forests, forts, heritage buildings, Ashwamegh Yajna site and cluster of Temples, and casts a spell binding charm over visitors during this birding fair.
